What are Reedy Creek Park's hours?
The park and preserve are open dawn to dusk daily. The nature center is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m.
Is there an entry fee?
No. The park, preserve, trails, nature center and disc golf course are free.
How long are the trails?
The preserve's seven named trails total about 5.75 miles, and connecting paths through the park let you walk or run 10 miles or more.
What is the Robinson Rockhouse?
The stone ruins of a 1780s farmhouse built by the Robinson family, deep in the preserve and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2009.
Is there a disc golf course?
Yes, a wooded 18-hole course with holes from about 180 to over 500 feet. It's free and one of Charlotte's most played.
Is there a dog park?
Yes, a fenced off-leash dog park. Dogs must be leashed elsewhere in the park.
Can I fish at Reedy Creek?
Yes, from the lakeside fishing pier and the ponds. Anglers 16 and older need a North Carolina inland fishing license.
Is Reedy Creek good for birding?
Yes. It's one of Charlotte's best birding parks, especially around the iron bridge where the South Fork, Sierra Loop and Robinson Rockhouse trails meet.
What is the Hummingbird Festival?
A yearly festival at the nature center celebrating hummingbirds, drawing up to 3,000 visitors. Check the county's calendar for the date.
Is there a playground for kids?
Yes, several, including a nature play area by the nature center with stump jumps, log balancing, a sand area and fort building.
Can I play cricket here?
Yes. Reedy Creek has a cricket pitch along with fields and courts for softball, soccer, tennis, basketball, volleyball and horseshoes.
Can I ride a bike on the preserve trails?
Ask at the nature center. The preserve trails are used mainly for hiking, and the rules on bikes can vary by trail.
